Used to replace discontinued Detmar steering system on 1998 - 2003 26X and early 26M. Also direct replacement for Tattoo 26 factory system. Much more reliable, smoother and less sloppy than original. Requires some cutting on steering pedestal to install. Comes with instructions to retrofit. Includes cable, helm unit (sometimes known as a Blast..ask Cheryl), and bezel kit.
The high performance cable has less play, easier and smoother steering, and will keep the steering tight and responsive for longer. Later model 26Ms that have a Teleflex steering system can just order the upgrade cable by itself, part #5707-1M4.

If you do not have a Teleflex steering system you will need to order the full system as a kit.

You should NEVER sail with the engine connected to the steering, and this BWY kit makes it really quick and easy to connect and disconnect. Locks engine straight for easy and safe sailing. Vastly easier to use than the factory system that uses tiny nuts and bolts to connect and disconnect.

Used on tattoo 26, Late model 26M or late 26X boats that have had their Detmar steering system replaced with Teleflex steering system. Does not fit early 26M or 26X that still have Detmar. Boats with Detmar steering need to replace the complete system with 5715-1V3 steering. 8' length

Most boats do not have the rudders perfectly alligned from the factory, this adjustable crossbar length crossbar allows you to allign your rudders parallel to each other. Your rudders will work better and have significantly reduced drag.

Some mid production 26M models had a straight bar with slots cut into the ends to fit over the end of the tiller arms, later boats used this bar which fits below the tiller arms. Use this part to replace either.

Early 26 M models used this rudder crossbar with 2 bends in it, later models used a straight bar, check to be sure which one you need.

You may receive a different ticking in your line depending on stock. It will be white with either a red or black tick.

A rubber cable boot and mounting ring, sold together as a pair. This is a 3" diameter ring and can be mounted anywhere on the hull or transom, it is recommended that you use a marine sealant along with stainless screws when mounting this piece. Typically used with steering cables/controls or electrical wires.
