MAINSAIL, 1 REEF, COASTAL CRUISING / PERFORMANCE MAINSAIL, 2 REEF, COASTAL CRUISING / PERFORMANCE MAINSAIL, 2 REEF, PREMIUM PERFORMANCE, LITE-SKIN
1 Reef Point / 5.0 High Modulus Dacron / Standard Battens / Loose Foot / Ropeless Foot and Luff / "M" Logo

This sail is a very popular option, and a huge upgrade from the factory sail at a really good price. The heavier cloth will hold its good shape much longer through the life of the sail. Includes one reef at 42" which is a standard first reef rather than the factory sail that had one very deep reef, essentially the second reef with the first reef missing. This gives you the ability to reef sooner and continue to sail comfortably and efficiently longer. Also includes jack lines and "dogbone" tack reef fittings for easier reefing. This sail has a loose foot, meaning that the sail is attached to the boom at the tack and with a single heavy outhaul slide. We have also eliminated the unnecessary bolt and foot rope to give better sail shape throughout the life of the sail.

This is a BWY Exclusive sail and is typically in our inventory and available to ship.

2 Reef Points / 5.0 High Modulus Dacron / Jack Lines / Standard Battens / Loose Foot / Ropeless Foot and Luff / "M" Logo

This sail is our most popular option, and a big upgrade from the economy sail at a really good price. The heavier cloth will hold its good shape much longer through the life of the sail. Includes one reef at 42" and one at 84" rather than the factory sail that had one very deep reef, essentially the second reef with the first reef missing. This gives you the ability to single reef sooner (about 12 - 14 Kts.) and continue to sail comfortably and efficiently in higher winds when double reefed. Also includes jack lines and "dogbone" tack reef fittings for easier reefing. This sail has a loose foot, meaning that the sail is attached to the boom at the tack and with a single heavy outhaul slide. The economy sail has no reef point, and is lighter weight.

This is a BWY Exclusive sail, typically in inventory and available to ship.

These sails are new to our BWY Exclusive sail line for 2020! We are truly excited to offer these exceptional sails at such a competitive price. The new Lite Skin fabric allows us to offer a combination of durability, performance, and ease of handling never before possible.

Historically there have essentially been three choices in sail cloth (other than exotic racing fabrics). Dacron, which is affordable, is plain white, has a reasonable life span, and is easy to handle in lighter weights, but has higher stretch and less performance than more modern fabrics. Racing Laminates, which are very light weight, moderately expensive, flashy looking, offer high performance, and are very fragile. Cruising Laminates, which combine the basic construction of a racing laminate with an outer layer of woven Dacron to improve durability. These fabrics are fairly expensive, offer good performance, tend to be somewhat stiff to handle and look essentially like a Dacron sail.

Enter Lite Skin, an all new 6 layer laminate from Dimension Polyant. Lite Skin offers a strength to weight ratio high enough to be a legitimate race fabric, but with such excellent durability and ease of care that it makes a great high end cruising fabric as well. As an added bonus Lite Skin is reasonably priced and has a really cool look. All BWY Lite Skin sails have the premium finish and features you would expect in a high end sail.
